Six rooms in an 1850s farmstead.
Liget was built from the remains of a 19th-century rural homestead — between 2014 and 2016. Lavender field, thermal source, and the building form a coherent whole — not for each other, but completing each other.
1854.
Built in 1854 as the Bauer family farmstead. Cellar, stable, two living units. In continuous use until the late 19th century, then evacuated in 1944 — post-war restoration skipped it. It stood empty for fifty years.
In 2014 the present owner bought it. The architect — Áron Vass, the same who later designed the Tisza festival main stage — chose preservation: original stones stayed in place, the wood floor, stone steps, old oak window frames are all original. Only water, heating, and ceramics belong to the 21st century.
The build took 24 months. Opening on 4 July 2016, three years after the first sketches.
Six rooms.
Not 'wellness'. Not 'luxury'. Not 'destination spa'. A place on the Tihany peninsula where 19th-century materials are paired with 21st-century hygiene.
Six treatment rooms — deliberately. More guests will not fit. Seven would be possible, but with six the silence of the space is stable. The eighth guest would step into the seventh's work.
No fitness centre, no sauna bar, no waterside café. The lavender field is open 24/7 — sitting on a bench is the only 'activity' we recommend between treatments.

Four people lead the major functions. The full Liget team is fourteen. All locals or have lived in the region for 5+ years. The leadership-team feeling is 'transfer' — not 'training'.
Annamária Schmidt
Pranayama teacher since 2013. Previously a medical psychologist in Pécs, then fully shifted to breathwork. The Liget Breath room has run with her since 2019.
Katalin Kiss
With us since the founding. Specialty: scalp-face combinations and the architecture of oil rituals. Runs internal training for the team.
Ferenc Vass
Previously a Finnish sauna master in Helsinki. The precision and bell-discipline of our sunrise circuit are his. No one speaks when he leads — no exceptions.

The source has been known since 1750, when the Tihany Abbey's economic diary first recorded it. Temperature 38°C, potassium- and magnesium-rich, sulphur-free.
When the spa was bought in 2014 the source was no longer in use — sealed since 1944. The reactivation was supervised by a geologist; the well meets Hungarian and EU water standards.
We use 8,000 litres of fresh thermal water per day. 80% of used water passes hydrobiological filtering and waters the lavender field.
